I've got news!

Hi guys, thought I should check in. I still have the bad cough but it's getting better. I have something to tell you guys... I just got myself a job.. yeap.. finally this housewife is chipping in to the household.. hehehe..

But the fun part about my job is.. I'll be working as a cook at a cafe at the CBD. I just started last Friday.. and it's been 4 days already.. I have to admit though, working in a commercial kitchen ain't nothing like cooking at home! And the food I cook is not something I'd cook at home either. So the first few days have been tough.. I'm trying to get the rhythm by observing my colleague. She's Japanese and she doesn't talk English that much.. so sometimes communication with her is a bit hard.. sometimes I think she doesn't even like me because she has this straight face going on all the time haha. But whatever, as long as I get to be as good as her I don't care if I annoy her a little bit... :P

So yeah, I will try to update the blog as much as I can. I really don't want to neglect this blog.. I've fallen in love with blogging and the internet world so I'm really not going to let go off this passion.. even though it doesn't pay the bills but it's okay.. as long as I'm still loving it I shall do it!

Will update more this weekend.. Should I show you guys what I cook at work? You will see....

I'm Sick :(

*Cough cough*

Guys... I'm sick.

I don't have a fever.. but I have this nastiest cough that is so dry and painful. And it's aggravating my asthma.

Can't remember the last time I had this cough. But this is the first time I got sick since I live in Melbourne.

And this is when I miss my parents sooo much. Cuz back home whenever I get sick, I get a lot of attention from them.

Over here, I still have to cook for myself (and Razz too). Other than that, I still have to do laundry and groceries. In KL if I'm sick, I would just lie in bed and get food delivered to me.

Not that I would ask them to get the food for me. Normally I wouldn't have any appetite to eat at all and that's why they like to knock on my door and just give me something.. like hot KFC.. or chocolate.. or soup.. Ahh bliss!

I really hope one day I get to be with my parents again... They can't move here yet because the parents visa has been closed. I hope the government will bring back the visa again. So in the meantime, they just have to come here as visitors. And they can only be in the country for a maximum of 3 months.

Anyway, I thought I should update what I've been up to for the past few days.

On Sunday 26.7.15 - Razz and I went to his friend's house. His friend, Mike is leaving to Texas on Friday. His wife Yoli has already left on that previous Monday. He gave away some stuffs to us.. I got two big cushion pillow, one small table, some American spices and few Yoli's magazines. Oh wait, he also gave us a trolley too. Over here when we shop, we like to use a pull trolley by the way. Then we dropped it off at our house and went to this American barbeque joint called Easey Street Smoke Out at Collingwood. The meat is soooo delicious and tender.. Man it's the best smoked beef I've ever tasted.

Tuesday 28.7.15 - Went to the city to buy a mop from Daiso. It's just a flat head mop and you need to use to wet cloth (which can be bought at Daiso too) so I can reach the ceiling of the kitchen to wipe off the marks from all that steam of the hours of cooking. Then I went to the pharmacy to get Benadryl (because I'm sick right) and suddenly I just felt like seeing the beach. I haven't been to the beach in months and since it's sunny and a lovely day yesterday, I figured I should just take the tram and go to the St Kilda beach and enjoy the view.

Accidentally took a photo of my shadow. Lol

And that's it.. I'm spending today in bed with pikelets and reading news from my laptop. Did you know Malaysia's DPM just got sacked because of 1mdb??? That is so bizzare!!! I really think Malaysia is in a very dark place now... sigh!

#bodyshaming not cool

I just read a blog post about a girl who was told she was 'too fat' to have a relationship with after a first date with a guy. She met him on Tinder and was actually going out with other people too as she was single.

So the next day after the first date, while she was on a date with someone else, she received a long text message from this guy saying really offensive things (but tried to put in a nice way) like he adores her pretty face and personality but his mind can only get turned on by someone slimmer...

What.The.Heck?

This really brings me back to that time when I encountered a similar situation. But not with the guy I dated. Instead, I was being called big/fat/ugly by the guy's friends and relatives (on different occasions). I was so young and naive. I always thought that everyone I meet are actually nice people. But sometimes, you tend to meet people who enjoys putting others down and takes pleasure in seeing them in pain and hopeless.

Yes it hurts at that time. It made me felt worthless, ugly and my confidence level just went down. But that also motivated me to lose weight and take better care of myself. It was also an eye-opener that some people just have bad intentions and just because you look confident and a happy camper, they actually want to see you cripple and go down. The funny part of my story is, I lost a lot of weight (about 12 kilos) after the incident and I was really surprised when a good-looking boy who was five years younger than me actually asked me out. Then bam! Got my self-confidence back ^_^

The moral of the story is, it doesn't matter what size you are. As long as you're surrounded by nice people, you will have a happy life. Be careful with people you meet, some can be nice and some can be toxic. And if you ever meet the latter, just make sure that you know you're a strong person and nobody.. and nobody as insignificant as that person can hurt you. Love yourself more to allow other people get into your life and hurt you like that.

The blogpost of that girl can be found here.

Eid Mubarak

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Kuih Makmur made by yours truly

Assalamualaikum,

It's my second year celebrating eid in Melbourne. Yesterday, I spent the whole day in the kitchen and I was really on fire. I prepared laksa johor, rendang, ketupat palas and kuih makmur. I had a mishap in the kitchen while doing kuih makmur but thankfully in the end it turned out okay. So glad I did it, if not it wouldn't feel like eid.

After we had our breakfast, I went to the post office to collect some packages. On the way there I bumped into a Malaysian family as they were wearing the Malay's traditional attire. I said hi and wished them 'selamat hari raya'  (eid mubarak in Malay). We chatted for a bit and found out they were on holidays. They asked for the direction to the St Kilda beach and I briefly guided them. I walked with them to the tram stop and bid farewell. Even though it was a few minutes chat, I felt great for interacting with another fellow Malaysian on Eid.

If you guys are wondering why I didn't go to the Malaysia Consultate, I wanted to it's just that I'm really really shy to go. Hopefully next year I would have more courage to meet them by myself. Ice breaking session is not something I'm good at without feeling awkward and shy. Anyway, to end this post I would like to take this opportunity to wish you Selamat Hari Raya or Eid Mubarak.  May this special day shower you with love, peace, goodness warmth and togetherness. Please forgive any of my shortcomings and mistakes said and done intentionally or unintentionally.

Bazaar Ramadhan Malaysia Hall

Just now I finally went to Malaysia Hall at High Street, Prahran for the first time since I moved here. There are bazaars on every Saturday for the whole month of Ramadhan at the parking lot area.
Went there at 2.45pm and I think there were about 80 people at that time including vendors altogether.  I didn't take any photos inside cuz.. I don't know I just felt slightly embarrassed if I take out my camera and start snapping haha. But I did manage to take a picture of the building once I was done.

And this is what I bought at the bazaar. I didn't get to plate it nicely and take a nice photo of it. By the time I was done reheating the food, it was time to break our fast.

Chicken Nasi Kerabu. Very aromatic and fulfilling.

Also bought some keropok lekor.. amaze balls!

Razz had lamb beriyani with papadam. He was annoyed when I took this pic cuz he tak tahan wanted to eat already (---_---) !

Met few Melbourne Uni and RMIT students there who were also the organizers. Very nice people. It's nice to meet other Malaysians here once in a while.

Winter Red

I took this photo last Friday. Went to a nearby supermarket to get ready-made gravy as I cooked
lamb chops for dinner that night.

Post this one at instagram

Jacket - Aliexpress, T-Shirt - Uniqlo

On the way to the supermarket I managed to get some vitamin D for 15 minutes. Sat on a bench and took off my jacket. Love the heat during winter.

So quiet and peaceful at 11am. Gazed at this beautiful building and thinking to myself what building was that. Very European-like and I can't help but to reminisced about my trip to Europe three years ago. One of the best times of my life.

*Checked google map today and found out it's a primary school. Those kids are so lucky to have such of a stunning school!*

That's the best part about living overseas I'd guess. You can just take a walk to the market and you'll enjoy seeing all these grass, trees, buildings and the sky as opposed to get into the car
and go to a shopping mall because let's face it. It's hot and humid in KL.
I would rather sit in an air-conditioned room than go to any parks.

Times like this I tell myself I should appreciate all the things I have. Even though we live in a small cramped studio apartment, but once we step outside, we're blessed
with this beautiful nature around us.

St Kilda is such a cool place :)

Flat Sunday

Woke up early this morning. Thought of going to the South Melbourne market today but there's just something about the weather that makes me want to just lay back in bed and enjoy snuggling inside the duvet just a little bit longer...

The Esplanade tram stop at St Kilda
This picture was taken few days ago when I did my last blood test. A couple of months back hubs insisted that I should get a pre-natal blood test to see if my body was ready to get pregnant. 6 tubes of my blood were taken to check a lot of things. They checked my sugar level, folic acid, iron, signs of hepatitis and other things I can't really remember. Everything was fine except that I didn't have enough Vitamin D and there was no trace of rubella vaccine in my body. Us girls have to take two shots in your lifetime. One when you're a newborn and another one when you're 15 years old. I skipped the second part cuz at that time I just recovered from chicken pox. I'm pretty sure I took the first one when I was a newborn, I've seen the medical report somewhere. But since everything was in KL and it's just so troublesome to ask my mom look for it cuz we moved houses and all, I thought why not. Lets just jab me those two shots, kay doc?

But it's not like you take two shots at one go. No no. After one shot, you have to wait another month for the second one. If you don't follow this rule, there a high chance you'd become a rubella monster.

Okay that was a joke. Truthfully, I don't know what will happen but I'd rather follow doctor's advice and wait for another couple of months just to be safe right?

And guess what... Just like 5 mins ago when I was writing this, doc just gave me a call and said my vaccine is settled and I can start trying now!

Omg. Alhamdulillah.. It's been such a long painful wait....

Ok bye! gonna look for my hubby now!!!

Lol just kidding! I think Im gonna get my period in few days time and there's no way I can pregnant within this timeframe no?

Anyway, the purpose I wrote this post was to tell you guys how boring and gloomy the weather has been and I cooked this for lunch today.

Pad See Ew or Kuey Teow Goreng

I used the instant sauce I bought from Woolies few days ago and man it's just soo de-lish-us!!! I've tried making the dishes from scratch but somehow they never turn out like the real deal. So I'm so grateful Woolies have started selling this. Now whenever I get cravings for Pad See Ew, I don't have to pay $12.50 for take outs. I can do it at home!!!!!!!

Okay I think I'm a little bit overwhelmed with the news and I'm just this happy birdie dancing around in the living room. Hope you enjoyed this entry and see you guys sooooonnnnaaah!

P/S: Happy Mother's Day to all of you beautiful mothers out there!!!

Sad Mode

Have you guys watched Fast and Furious 7?
I watched it a couple of days ago and I think I've cried more than ten times since the movie. The ending is so beautifully crafted, it makes me feel like Paul is in a better place.
And the song!! It's the most touching tribute song ever. And to make you guys understand why
I cried that much, I shall leave you the links so you can cry with me too.

Happy Sunday

Hellooo!! Happy Sunday everyone!!

What are your plans for today?? Hope you have good plans ahead with your loved ones. As for me, as everyone else is heading towards our area to watch the F1 (Albert Park is just behind my house so the F1 screeching loud cars pleasantly woke me up this morning -__-) we'll be going down to the city to get some Japanese in our bellies. And before I sign off, I'd like to share with you guys this short hillarious video of President Obama reading mean tweets. I think he's one of the most laidback leader of all time. You should watch the rest of the show, it's in Jimmy Kimmel's youtube channel. So till then, see you guys soon!

Spending The Weekend at Sovereign Hill

This is going to be bittersweet. Initially we plan to start trying to conceive during the trip. So it was kinda supposed to be special. But I've got to postpone it cuz I just had rubella immunisation injection last Monday. And I'm supposed to get another one next month. And I have to wait for another month till it's safe to get pregnant. So that means I have to wait until May. Sigh. This is when I feel so angry with myself. I should have done the pre-natal check up few months ago. I'm feeling slightly demotivated right now but I'm trying to fight it. This is one of the curveballs in life and I'm telling myself to be grateful with what I have. Hopefully I can get some calm and peace on this trip.

Keep Calm and Move On ^_^

Anyone going to White Night Melbourne?

Here it is again, the event you shouldn't miss out if you're in Melbourne. The prominent buildings in this city will be light up with animated laser shows and be prepared to be "wowed" and "Aaaah" throughout the night. My mouth were literally like that when I first watched it last year, haha. It felt like I was in a Charlie and Chocolate Factory set or something. It's really mind blowing.

Will update photos after the event so stay tuned!

Memorable January

A quick recap of what happened during the past few weeks.

My sis in law and her friend came down to Melbourne last month to reminisce the days when they used to study here back in 2013. So I was really thrilled when they came cuz you know I haven't had any girlfriend sessions after being married. It has always been just me and hubs.

Not that I'm complaining, I love marriage life. But sometimes you just miss doing girly things like going into every store that you see, taking gazillion selfies at public places and occasionally attempt to take jumping shots whenever no one's looking, you know that kind of stuffs.

So here are some memorable pics we took during their trip here.

New Year Eve over South Yarra bridge

Cooked lamb cutlets and sweet potato for our dearest sis

Before we head out to Berwick

My Sil brought us to this hispter place for brunch. Can't remember what its called. Somewhere at Brunswick

Both of them left to KL about 2 weeks ago and here I am feeling recharged and able to concentrate on mr hubs again. He was feeling kind of jeli-jeli when they were around cuz I didn't pay much attention to him. Sigh, story of my life. But I love him for that :)

Update

Hey guys!

I know I haven't been updating this blog for so long.

I have been busy with other things but I need to share with you so much with a lot of stuffs.

I have found a very affordable method to straighten your hair from home and ..I'm just so thankful I've found the product. At least now I don't have to spend at least AU200++ in salon to get straight hair that will only last me 2 months!

So besides all the depressing news we've been hearing this month (#sydneysiege & #flight8501 - I tell you I've never been up to date with news as much as this time around) I hope I'll be writing more post and connect with more bloggers & readers next year.

Before I say good bye, I would like to wish you Happy New Year and hope you're having a great holiday with your family and friends.

I'll see you in 2015!

Muahks! Bye!!!!! =)

Sad day for Sydney

My eyes are glued to the news since this morning. What a horrible day for Australia especially Sydneysiders. So far 5 people have escaped. My thoughts are with those people who are held hostage and their families. #sydneyseige #prayforsydney

Our 1 Year Anniversary

< Warning : Gazillion photos in this post. Read on wifi network recommended ;) >

I love how my mil gives life advice to us

I can't believe how time flies. We've been married for one year.

Last night before we went to sleep we reminisced for a while what exactly we were doing around that time a year ago.

I was admiring my living hall which had turned from a simple plain area into a very fancy place with loads of crystal vases and flowers. Then I realized we didn't have enough carpets to cover the whole floor of the living rooms so my brother was kind enough to go to my aunty's house (30 km away) to pick up extra carpets. I was looking forward to get some rest on that night cuz I literally ran everywhere to get everything prepared.

And today, I can't help but to reflect how the wedding went. It didn't go as smooth as I wanted to but it was ok. It was the first wedding in the family so there were few things that were overlooked.

Honestly I was quite disappointed with how it went but in the end I know can't control everything. Sometimes you just gotta let the imperfections roll in and let it be!

At least the food was great and the weather was excellent!

So today I thought I'll show some of my wedding photos here for you guys. Just to immortalize the most significant day of my life in this little space I created. And also to express my gratitude to have finally found a life partner who gives me the emotional stability I was looking for my whole life and who fills partial of the empty hole in my heart (I'm reserving the rest when I have a child, then I'll be complete. Hehe)

Before I get into it, I just want to briefly explain that the weddings in Malay culture normally starts with solemnization which is the legal signing ceremony between the groom and the bride. The newlyweds then would have two separate receptions, as a way to introduce the partner to the whole extended family and friends. The bride would have the reception first followed by the groom's on a later date..

So here it goes..

Solemnization Day (11.12.13 @ Cheras, KL)

Reception on my side (13.12.13 @ Dewan Perdana Felda, KL)

With my ex colleagues

My high school friends

My activity friends. We used to do all sorts of things together. Badminton, marathon, water rafting. Heck even studio jamming! Haha! Miss those days.

My new family

I've always wanted sisters and now I have two of them! My new SILs

Do you guys know him? He's a celebrity and apparently, he's my cousin! Well second or third cousin I think. His wife was pregnant at this time and she looked so gorgeous.

My extended family (my father's side)

Reception on my hub's side (21.12.13 @ Dewan PKPS, Shah Alam)

Bridesmaid, Bestman & The Glam Squad

My hub's friends from Melbourne flew down (or up?!) to attend our wedding. So nice of them!

Subang Jaya friends. They were all childhood friends and I kinda got absorbed into the group. The friendliest crew I've ever met.

My bridesmaid and my bestfriend

Our VVVIP - Tok Mak & Tok Bak (Our only grandparents)

Did you make it till here? If you did, congratulations! Hope you're not going to vomit from seeing all this pics. Lol. Allrighty hope you enjoyed reading this post. Till then, I'll see you guys soon :)
